This book was released on the occasion of the solo exhibition of the painter Roger Van de Wouwer in the summer of 2016 at the Verbeke Foundation.

Roger Van de Wouwer’s canvases are often colourful and conceptual in nature. In his figurative work he often uses various recognizable elements that at first glance show no substantive coherence. In doing so, he forces the viewer to look and think differently.
Through Leo Dohmen, who, like Van de Wouwer, worked at Gevaert and was a surrealist artist, he comes into contact with Gilbert Senecaut and Tom Gutt. These encounters will give direction to his artistry.
