Ewerdt Hilgemann, the belgian connection

20,00

This book was published on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Ewerdt Hilgemann and the accompanying performance of the work Ode to César. The Verbeke Foundation made this work possible. The focus of the book is on the artist’s long-standing connection with Belgium.

COMPRESSED HISTORY

A red container. Above that, two light panels: “Verbeke Foundation – Museum – entrance” and “Ewerdt & Antoinette 50 years together”. To the left, a path runs to a clearing where there are two deformized objects, a stainless steel tetraeder and a rusty cube. Behind it, a 6 meter high column with a base of 70 x 70 cm rises into the blue summer sky. A collage of different metal shapes, matte, polished and rusty, compressed and placed on a metal plate, cold on the ground: the sculpture Compressed History of the Amsterdam concept artist Ewerdt Hilgemann.

In 2018, EH reaches its 80th year of life. He is unchanged curious, quirky, creative and productive.
