It was before the internet and the world wide web when cutting was still a physical affair. And when the act of writing reviews was accompanied by the heavy sound of strokes on the keys of a mechanical typewriter and a cheerful and resolute ‘ping!’ marking the transition to the next line. For twenty years, Leo Geerts (1935-1991) wrote reviews on mainly Dutch language but also translated literature for the magazine De Nieuwe. It turned out that all the eating reading at the breakfast table had led to something else than just hundreds of reviews. Suddenly the Cut-up writers were there, satirical collages of writers whom he had made a review on.
